The contents of both the Tools and the Shortcuts menu can be setup according to needs of the user. The menu items can be changed, deleted or added from the Menu panel in the Preferences window.
The panel contains a pop-up menu at the top that allows you to switch between the Tools and the Shortcuts menu. To delete a menu item, select it in the list and press delete or drag the item to the trash. To edit it, double click it or select it and press edit.
Please see chapter "Using Scriptin" for more information on the scripting variables.
The Tools Menu
The tools menu is intended for functions that operate on selections in the userlist, so to use most of the built in Tool functions, you need to select a nick in the userlist and use the menu.
Two of the scripting variables that Snak provide are especially suited to be used in Tool functions $E and $F:
The $E variable returns the nick of the first selected user and is used in functions like /whois.
The $F variable returns the user and host information that Snak knows about the selected Nick. This is useful in functions like /kick or /ban
The Respond function will open a query window to the last person that sent you a private message.
See the Menu panel in the Preference window to examine the built in Tool functions and shortcuts.
The Shortcuts menu
The Shortcuts menu is intended to store snippets of text that you find yourself repeating frequently.
If you play on the #RiskyBus channel, it may be useful to use the Shortcuts menu to store phrases like "pass", "rob show categories" and of course "rob we give up" :-)
#RiskyBus is a game channel, not unlike Jeopardy (which of course is trademarked and protected by vicious lawyers with licenses to kill). The game is controlled by a program called "rob" that acts as the game master.
